Buenos Aires Book Fair 2019 will take place from April 25 to May 13 and nine Brazilian publishing houses and two Brazilian authors will be there. With the support of Brazilian Publishers, an industry project that promotes exports of Brazilian editorial content through a partnership between the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), the publishing houses will take part in the professional journey happening in April 23-26, while the authors will participate in discussions included in the event’s official calendar. “The Buenos Aires Book Fair means great opportunities to develop a relationship with the publishing industry of Argentina and of the Latin America as a whole. Last year, the Brazilian participation generated US$ 197,000 in deals made and expected for the 12 months subsequent to the event. For this year, we estimate reaching an amount of US$ 200,000 in deals”, states Fernanda Dantas, International Affairs Manager of CBL and manager of Brazilian Publishers.

This year’s edition will have two Brazilian writers in its program: Ana Paula Maia, who is going to participate in the discussion “La ficción literaria y audiovisual: encuentros y distancias” on May 6, and Bianca Santana, who will be part of table “La lengua en la poesía: identidad y diversidad”, on May 5.

During the fair, Ana Paula will have her work “Enterre Seus Mortos” (Bury your dead), translated to Spanish by Argentine publisher Eterna Cadencia, released. The book tells the story of Edgar Wilson, who works for the agency responsible for collecting dead animals from roads and taking them to a place where they are ground in a large grinder, and Tomás, a former priest who was excommunicated by the Catholic Church and now administers the anointing of the sick to dying victims of fatal accidents who cross his path.

The routine of both characters is disrupted when Edgar finds the body of a hanged woman in the woods and decides to keep it in secret. Some days later, he finds another body and, with the help of Tomás, he decides to give an appropriate end to the poor corpses.
