Editora do Brasil, Companhia das Letras and DSOP Educação Financeira present catalogue during the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2019
The Brazilian delegation at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2019 has the presence of 18 Brazilian publishers. Among them, Companhia das Letras, Editora do Brasil, and DSOP Educação Financeira. The national participation happens with the support of the Brazilian Publishers, an industry project that promotes exports of Brazilian editorial content through a partnership between the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). Companhia das Letras Group is one of the largest companies in the Brazilian publishing market and has an active catalog of approximately five thousand titles. Among them, the book “O Sol Na Cabeça” (The Sun on the Head) (2018), by Geovani Martins, which had its rights sold to ten countries, such as England, Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands, and China. The publisher also published the book “A Resistência” (The Resistance) (2015), by Julián Fuks, who won the German Anna Seghers Award for the publication of the novel.
Children’s financial education is also a highlight in the Brazilian publishing production through the work of Editora DSOP, a department of the DSOP Financial Education group dedicated to financial literacy. The Group has a franchise network in Brazil, with more than 1,000 Financial Educators in the country and a subsidiary in the United States. Its catalogue brings children’s works such as “O menino e o dinheiro” (The Boy and the Money) (2013), by Reinaldo Domingos, which presents a narrative filled with lessons about the importance of saving and making choices to make one’s dreams come true.
With 75 years of history, Editora do Brasil has over a thousand titles in its catalogue, which gathers educational publications, schoolbooks, and literature. Among them, the book “Ser humano é… Declaração universal dos direitos humanos para crianças” (Human being is… Universal declaration of the human rights for children), by Fábio Sgroi. The book guides the reader through illustrations that show children’s rights and duties to inform and promote respect, diversity, justice, and peace.
