Fernanda Dantas participates in a podcast about the Brazilian Publishers project
In the first semester of 2019, Brazilian Publishers took Brazilian publishing companies to four international events: the London Book Fair, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, the Buenos Aires International Book Fair and the Bogotá International Book Fair. Last year, the publishing houses that are part of the project that fosters exports of Brazilian editorial content through a partnership between the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) reached a total amount of USD 2,002,272.79 in closed deals.
In order to disclose information on the project, Fernanda Dantas, the International Affairs Manager of CBL and Manager of Brazilian Publishers, participated in the Publishnews podcast. The episode is available at Spotify.
During the episode, Fernanda Dantas addressed several topics, explained what the Brazilian Publishers project is, and talked about the participation of Brazilian publishing houses in international fairs, the Brazilian publishing industry abroad and the importance of fostering exports of Brazilian editorial content.
The manager also talked about future projects, such as the Brazilian Publishers Professional Journey. The event took place during the São Paulo Book Fair 2018 and counted on the participation of 58 professionals from the publishing industry, 30 of which were international publishers invited to the event and 28 were Brazilian publishing houses supported by Brazilian Publishers. The meetings generated USD 735,900.00 in deals closed and in those expected to be made in the next 12 months.
“Our intention is to bring more and more publishers here to make deals because they like coming here and it is very different when they come to the country. So, the idea is to organize a professional journey with business meetings and speeches in the second semester. We want to transform the journey in an annual event”, explains Fernanda.
In the second semester, Brazilian publishing companies will also participate in three international events supported by Brazilian Publishers: the Frankfurt Book Fair, the Sharjah International Book Fair and the Guadalajara International Book Fair.
