With the signature “Come and make this knowledge download”, the 25th São Paulo International Book Fair counts on the participation of 291 national and 22 international authors. The event will take place from August 3rd to 12th, at Anhembi Convention Center, and is organized by the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL), with the support of the Brazilian Publishers, a project to foster exports of Brazilian editorial content through a partnership between CBL and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
This year’s agenda counts on 1,500 hours of cultural activities, 200 more than last edition, and 14 cultural spaces with activities related to the literary universe.
“We were careful to bring an agenda capable of reaching all the audiences, from children to adults, seeking for atual themes, further of improving the infrastructure for comfort and circulation of visitors. This year, the São Paulo International Book Fair is even more multicultural, joining entertainment, knowledge, innovation and, of course, a lot of literature”, says Luís Antonio Torelli, chairman of the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL).
During the 10 days of the Book Fair, visitors will be able to get in contact with authors, in exclusive encounters and lectures. Among the international names are: A. J. Finn, of “The Woman in the Window,” which will be soon in the big screen through Fox Movies; Victoria Aveyard, author of the series “Red Queen”; Soman Chainani, author of the series “The school for good & evil”; Yoav Blum, author of “The Coincidence Maker” and Lauren Blakely (05/08), author of “Mister O”.
Among the Brazilians are confirmed: Maurício de Sousa, Mario Sergio Cortella, Luiz Felipe Pondé, Fernanda Montenegro, Ziraldo, Carolina Ferraz, Thiago Castanho, Helena Rizzo, Pam Gonçalves, Carol Christo, Babi Dewet, Casseta & Planeta group, Antonio Prata, Miriam Leitão, Julián Fuks, Maria Rita Kehl e Luiz Ruffato.
In addition to offering various activities oriented to literary immersion, the 25th São Paulo Book Fair also presents the 1st Professional Days, with the presence of 60 publishers, supported by Brazilian Publishers, and international professionals from places such as the United Arab Emirates, Argentina, Colombia, Turkey, Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, and Panama.
The Arab Emirate of Sharjah is the Guest of Honor of this year’s edition. This is the first time that a city from the Middle East participates in the Book Fair, bringing all its cultural richness with music, dance, gastronomy and literature of the region.
