24/06/2022

Between July 2nd and 10th, 2022, the São Paulo International Book Fair will take place at Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo. The biggest event in the publishing market in Latin America reaches its 26th edition, consolidating itself as the main meeting point for publishers, bookstores and distributors in Brazil. Held by the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL), the meeting presents the most important launches in the Brazilian market to hundreds of thousands of visitors.

In addition to the wide range of books, the fair also has a comprehensive cultural program, mixing literature, gastronomy, culture, entertainment and business.

Among these attractions, there are tables focused on Business-to-business (B2B). The Market Talk, sponsored by Metabooks, will feature an extensive and very enriching agenda, promoting conversations on topics such as marketing, education and digital transformation in the publishing market. Curated by Leonardo Neto, the program is carried out in partnership with the International Publishers Association (IPA), the Regional Center for the Promotion of Books in Latin America and the Caribbean (Cerlalc), PublishNews and LC Comunication Agency.

Among the highlights is the panel “Internationalization of Brazilian Literature: the Case of Torto Arado”, with the participation of Leandro Sarmatz, from Todavia; Ricardo Sanchez Riancho, from Textofilia Ediciones; and Fernanda Dantas, international relations manager at Brazilian Publishers. The meeting about the success of the internationalization of the book written by Itamar Vieira Junior is scheduled for the 4th of July, from 3:45 pm to 4:30 pm.

Another interesting lecture is “The Portuguese Language as a Business Language”, given by Rita Araújo, Director of Aicep; Carlos Cabral, from Grupo Pão de Açúcar; and José Manuel Diogo, president of the Portugal Brazil 200 years Association. The event will take place on July 8th, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.

In addition to this program, there will also be lectures focused on B2B that will take place a few days before the event, during the Professional Days. The full list of content activities has not yet been released, but you can learn more about the Professional Days here.

The São Paulo International Book Fair

This year, the event seeks to celebrate the transformation that books make in people’s lives, and once again exceeds all expectations by selling 100% of the available space with several exhibitors bringing news to all audiences.

After the 1st Virtual São Paulo Book Fair held in 2020, which reached more than 1.5 million people, the event is again betting on the online format. Organized by RX, the 2022 edition will be hybrid, broadcasting the main content live and democratizing access to activities carried out in cultural spaces. According to Vitor Tavares, president of CBL, the idea of broadcasting some attractions is completely in line with CBL’s mission to democratize access to reading and culture: “It is an honor to be able to bring moments of this great party beyond the São Paulo-Rio de Janeiro axis.”, he quotes.

The 2022 edition will also commemorate the bicentennial of Brazil’s independence and will have Portugal as its guest of honor, celebrating countries united by the same mother tongue. The Iberian country will receive an area of 500m² during the exhibition, which will carry out several cultural and business activities.
