In the month of April, Brazil will be present in two fairs of the Latin American publishing market. After the last edition in virtual format, Bogotá International Book Fair (FILBo) returns to face-to-face, starting on April 19th and extending until May 2nd, in Corferias, a commercial center in the Colombian city. The Buenos Aires International Book Fair will also take place physically, between April 26th and May 16th, 2022, in the capital of Argentina.
Brazil will be represented at FILBo with a delegation made up of two representatives of publishing houses in the country: Luís Cláudio de Sousa Pereira, co-founder of AL+ and also author of the outstanding work of the publishing house “América Latina 2051” (Latin America 2051), and Álvaro Borba, from Mais Ativos and the publishing label Mais Amigos, from the same publisher, focused on children’s literature. In Buenos Aires, Brazil will be present through the presence of InVerso publishing house.
The publishers of the delegations from the two countries are participants in Brazilian Publishers — a partnership between the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).
Fernanda Dantas, international relations manager at Brazilian Publishers, is optimistic about the Brazilian delegations at the events. “Both the Buenos Aires and Bogotá fairs are extremely important for the strengthening of relations between Latin countries and the construction of an even more solid and united publishing market in South America”, she highlights.
Vitor Tavares, president of CBL, enthusiastically talks about Brazil’s agenda for this semester: “After two years with most fairs taking place remotely, we are very excited to see our agenda returning to full steam, bringing together professionals from all around the world and heating up the market!”.
