Through Brazilian Publishers, the Brazilian delegation brings together 25 companies and features business sessions, debates on national classics, and a program dedicated to children’s and young adult literature
Brazil will participate in the 78th Frankfurt Book Fair through Brazilian Publishers, a project for the internationalization of Brazilian editorial content created through a partnership between the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE). Brazil’s participation is expected to generate US$ 8.1 million in business. The event will take place from October 7 to 11, 2026, at the Messe Frankfurt exhibition center in Germany.
The CBL delegation will oversee the project’s activities during the fair. The delegation consists of Sevani Matos, president of CBL; Diego Drumond, administrative and financial vice-president; Hubert Alquéres, operations vice-president and curator of the Jabuti Award; Luciano Monteiro, communications and sustainability vice-president; Fernanda Garcia, executive director; Karine Pansa, director; Lis Ribeiro, communications manager; Rayanna Pereira, international relations coordinator; and Ana Claudia Paiva, international relations analyst. Representing ApexBrasil is Floriano Pesaro, corporate management director.
Confirmed companies include: Ateliê da Escrita, BIBLIEX, Bom Bom Books – CEDIC International, Callis, Ciranda Cultural, Clube de Autores, Companhia das Letras, EDUSP, Eureka, Faro Editorial, Fósforo, Gente, Girassol Brasil, Globo Livros, Lisboa, Mágico de Oz, Mil Caramiolas, Pallas, Pinard, Pop Stories, Rua do Sabão, SENAC SP, Todolivro, UNESP, Universo dos Livros, and Zarabatana Books, representing various segments of Brazilian publishing.
The schedule at the Brazilian booth includes activities focused on business generation and promoting Brazilian literature. Market-oriented actions feature matchmaking sessions and the traditional Caipirinha Hour, aimed at networking and cultural exchange with professionals from various international markets.
The cultural schedule includes panels and chats on the history and internationalization of Brazilian literature, featuring reflections on the work of Luiz Gama and discussions on the challenges of translating Guimarães Rosa’s “Grande Sertão: Veredas” into English and German.
The program also includes the Brazil-Germany Children and Young Adult Literary Lounge (i-Lit). This space will host panel discussions, creative workshops, and storytelling sessions, bringing together female Brazilian authors to discuss the role of family in narratives and address topics such as the occupation of the Amazon, cultural diversity, human rights, and environmental preservation.
The Brazilian delegation will also feature prominently at the Latam Stage, with confirmed participation in the panels “Literary Awards in Brazil: Celebrating Excellence and Building Visibility” — where Adriane Freitag and Hubert Alquéres will discuss the importance of the Jabuti and São Paulo Literature awards, moderated by Guilherme Sobota — and “Taking Brazilian Literature to the World: Brazil’s Internationalization Programs”, with Sevani Matos, Antônio Floriano Pereira Pesaro, and Karine Pansa addressing Brazilian literature’s internationalization efforts, highlighting the Brazilian Publishers project. This debate will be moderated by Talita Facchini.
“The Frankfurt Book Fair is the central meeting point for the global publishing industry. Being present at its 78th edition reinforces our commitment to keeping Brazilian literature continuously in the spotlight, paving the way for rights exports and building new global partnerships,” highlights Sevani Matos, president of CBL.
“This year’s program reflects the breadth and thematic relevance of our market: we move from reflections on classics and great translators to showcasing children’s and young adult literature, as well as fundamental issues such as diversity and human rights. It is a comprehensive showcase of Brazilian talent,” adds Rayanna Pereira, international relations coordinator.
About Brazilian Publishers
Created in 2008, Brazilian Publishers is a sectorial project aimed at promoting exports of Brazilian editorial content, seeking to position the sector in the global market in a targeted and structured manner.
