Vilma was born in Campos dos Goytacazes, Rio de Janeiro, and now, at the age of 85, she continues writing and acting as a professor of Brazilian literature at Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp). She also develops works connecting education and literature, and her research focuses on the texts by Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector.
Vilma won the Jabuti Awards three times for the books “Aos Trancos e Relâmpagos” (1998), “A Terceira Perna” (1992) and “Um Beijo por Mês” (A monthly kiss) (2018).
