Brazilian Publishers releases this Thursday (4th) the 2018/2019 edition of the Catalog of Books and Rights presenting the main Brazilian titles available to the international publishing market. Currently, 60 publishing houses are part of the project, which has the objective of fostering exports in the industry through international relations, professionalization of the Brazilian publishing market, and the dissemination of Brazilian publishing production.
The physical version of the catalog will be released during the Frankfurt Book Fair, which happens from October 10th to 14th. The delegation is headed by the Brazilian Publishers – industry project to promote exports of Brazilian editorial content through a partnership between the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) – and counts on the presence of 27 national publishing houses and three writters: João Paulo Cuenca, Geovani Martins, and Bianca Santana.
“This catalog is essential to present the best of the Brazilian publishing market and bring international publishers closer to our production. Brazil is a multicultural country and this is reflected in our production. We believe that any foreign reader will identify with our books and this is a huge potential for business”, says Luiz Alvaro Salles Aguiar de Menezes, International Affairs Manager of the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL) and Manager of Brazilian Publishers.
Created in 2008, the Brazilian Publishers has strengthened the international relationship through several actions. Among them, the creation of the Brazilian Publishers Translation Fellowship that offers support to foreign publishers who wish to translate works from Brazilian authors into any language. Besides supporting Brazilian publishers in international events, the project promotes the arrival of professionals from the sector to Brazil, as happened during the 1st Professional Day of the 25th International Book Fair of São Paulo in August.
The project is still responsible for the category dedicated to the Brazilian Book Published Abroad of the Jabuti Awards, the major Brazilian literary event. The winners of the 2018 edition will be announced on November 8th.
