The Argentine version of the work “Somewhere in the world” was selected by the Asociación de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil de la Argentina (ALIJA) and won the prize in the translation category. ALIJA is the association for children’s and youth literature in Argentina and a section of IBBY, an international organization for children’s and youth books based in Switzerland. The title was translated with a translation grant granted by Brazilian Publishers  – a partnership between the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

The work, originally released in 2018 by Editora do Brasil, was published in Argentina by Gerbera Ediciones and is called “En Algún Lugar del Mundo”, translated by Delia Beatriz Caballero. Written by Anna Claudia Ramos and illustrated by Jacobo Muñiz, the book addresses children’s curiosities, such as what happens in their home, inside themselves and the thousand thoughts of children, involving creative, scientific, emotional, innovative, interesting, crazy things.

Delia was at the Brazilian booth, on May 5th, during the Buenos Aires International Book Fair. The translator was very happy with the international award and took pictures in Brazil’s space holding the book, which was displayed there until the end of the fair, on May 16th.

“Somewhere in the world”

The plot of the work revolves around the idea that, at this moment, somewhere in the world, there is a child thinking about what is happening inside her, in her home, her family, her school, where she lives. Thinking a thousand creative, scientific, emotional, innovative, interesting, crazy things. The title focuses on expanding on these ideas, presenting a glimpse into some of these childhood thoughts. A true celebration of all children, genius in their essence, multiple in their voices and in their desires, dreams and aspirations, inspiring in their truth.
