The books catalog of Ubook received a new acquisition: the books of Todavia publishing house. To launch the partnership, the platform will make available four works of the company, being “Belchior – apenas um rapaz latino-americano” (Belchior – just a Latin American boy) (2017), by Jota Medeiros; “Laços” (Ties) (2017), by Domenico Starnone; “Tudo Pode Ser Roubado” (Everything Can Be Stolen) (2018) by Giovana Madalosso, and “Acre” (2017) by Lucrécia Zappi.
With less than four years of existence, the Ubook already has more than six million registered users and partnerships with more than 100 national and international publishing houses. The platform is part of the Brazilian Publishers, an industry project to promote exports of Brazilian editorial content through a partnership between the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). The company expects to expand more and more its international presence, especially in Latin America.
For Eduardo Albano, director of the Ubook, Todavia arrives to add content of excellence. “The audiobooks serve to add value to time in our routine. Among the various daily tasks, we not always can stop and read that book that is on our list. With audiobooks, people can gain knowledge while driving, doing physical activity, or at other times when it is not possible to handle a book, but it is plausible to listen. And having quality content will contribute to attract more and more public to this format”, points out Albano.
The biography “Belchior – apenas um rapaz latino-americano” (Belchior – just a Latin American boy) (2017) tells the trajectory of one of the most important characters of Brazilian popular music. Written by the journalist Jotabê Medeiros, the sound version brings narration by Eugênio Dale, a musician and composer who played with Belchior himself.
Produced by the author Domenico Starnone, “Laços” (Ties) (2017) came to life in the voice of Brazilian actor Paulo Betti. The novel tells the story of the couple Aldo and Vanda and brings reflections on family ties and marriage. “Tudo Pode Ser Roubado” (Everything Can Be Stolen) (2018) has narration by the author herself, Giovana Madalosso. With her agile and sharp humor, Giovana constructs a narrative about ambitions, dreams and relationships nowadays.
Written by Lucrecia Zappi, the novel “Acre” (2017) presents the conflictive relationship between the middle class and the city, in which prejudice, brutality, and decadence arise around every corner. Its audiobook version is narrated by Último de Carvalho.
