P’s Three Women is composed of three novels that all share a common narrator in Polydoro, a wealthy figure in the São Paulo elite. In the first story, while still young, he is seduced by his teacher’s wife, discovering thirty years later that she seduced him at the request of her husband. In the second story, he is involved in a marital war and does whatever he can to get a divorce. In the final story, now in his seventies, he records his marital satisfaction in a diary; against the wishes of relatives and associates, he has married a young secretary named Ela. Years later, he begins a second diary to understand the changes she went through, as she now wants a divorce
